Separate Physical Operating System Disk
A separate disk is used for the operation and storage of programs on our Digital Entertainment Systems. This allows the disk to be replaced in the event of OS corruption or disk failure without affecting the media files on the storage array.
RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks) Technology
Okoro Media Systems implements RAID 1 and RAID5 within the protected storage option.
RAID 1(400GB - 500GB) disk mirroring enables one disk to serve as a hot standby for another disk, providing protection in the event of disk failure and ensuring access to media files( videos, music, etc.).
RAID 5(800GB - 1.5TB) disk protection is striped and parity is distributed across three or more drives. This improving media retrieval performance and provides protection, in the event of disk failure.
All systems using the protected storage option receive increased media retrieval performance using Native Command Queuing (NCQ) and at 3Gb/s.
